What a day! This is your lucky day because i just crerated a sh*t load of Guides for mac and windows on unlocking, jailbreaking and activating iPhone firmware 1.1.3 and 1.1.2 Out Of Box with 4.6 bootloader! Read Here.

February 15,2008

I have had a chance to use iNdependence on a 3.9 bootloader phone that was not unlocked. I updated normally via iTunes to 1.1.3, then used iNdependence to activate it and jailbreak it (which was about 2 minutes), then I used iNdependence to unlock it which took about 4 minutes). Fantastic program! Thank you 0perator. I'll put up a guide (not that you should need one, this program is really simple) later today. I've also gotten reports it works fine on 1.1.3 out of the box (4.6 bootloader) phones. I'll try to independently test that as well.

February 14,2008

There's a new version of iNdependence out. It activates and jailbreaks 1.1.3 firmware in seconds. It also has an unlocking feature built in. I'll test it as soon as I get a chance. If you haven't already noticed the banner I put on most every page, yes I do offer repair services. To see how this service works (and find out how many phones and with what problems I've fixed) check out this page. I can accommodate overnight shipping. I've recieved phones from as far away as The Green Zone, and Afghanistan.

February 13,2008

I have updated the guides on how to unlock 1.1.3 firmware with the 4.6 bootloader (Windows) and (Mac). This is final! Also the ZiPhone guide is posted but i do not recommend :( eventhough it is easy. Why? Well because The official Dev Team and Geo Will more likely come out with future jailbreaks and hacks and this is/was a legend in it's own mind. Therefore you will go through more trouble going back and doing these methods anyway rather then just updating but...do what you think is right. Au revoir !

February 12,2008

Sorry it took me so long to finally make this tutorial, but here it is: how to unlock a brand new 1.1.3 firmware 4.6 bootloader (like you would find in any store right now) iPhone. Here's the guide for unlocking OTB 1.1.3 iPhone with 4.6 bootloader.

Also I developed a guide for Zibri's ZiPhone Method. Read Here.

Februaryn 11,2008

CONFIRMED! My U.K. iPhone is now working just fine here in the U.S. This guide will be going into the 1.1.2 section which is deprecated. I'll post here when the guide is up. It will be an OS independent guide so Mac and Windows people can both use it. I'll then test out 1.1.3 on this method. GeoHot has created a software based unlock for 1.1.2 iPhones with the 4.6 bootloader. You can read his comments here. I have a U.K. iPhone to test this on. If all goes well (sometimes Geo leaves a bit of info out here and there), I'll tutorialize it. Thank you again GeoHot!

Added a Tutorial on: How to Upgrade the Baseband of Your 3.9 BL iPhone to 04.03.13_G

February 6,2008

Tutorial: Unlock your iPhone: 1.1.3 Firmware :3.9 Bootloader ONLY. Read Here.

There's a few big announcements: The 16 gig iPhone and 32 gig iTouch have been released. Also, AnySim for 1.1.3 has been leaked but IT'S UNSTABLE! Steer Clear of this one for now.

February 5,2008

I'll be making some changed on a few guide since jailbreakme . com has been optimized for 1.1.1 and installs oktoprep for you, to get you ready for 1.1.2 jailbreak. Also, the Dev Team has released a 3rd version of the 1.1.3 Upgrade via installer. Check back tonight!

February 1,2008

I'm taking the stance of not working on determing which guides in my 1.1.2 section will work on my 1.1.3 section. 1.1.3 firmware really doesn't offer very much to the typical end user (especially considering since we aren't benefitting from the new baseband) so I don't really see a point in upgrading. In fact, if you read the Featured page on the Installer it states "It is recommended that only developers upgrade their iPhone/iPod Touch to 1.1.3 at this time." There are lots of issues, with lots of things that don't work in 1.1.3, and frankly I would just wait until 1.1.4 and the SDK come out in February.

The Official 1.1.3 Upgrader has been silently updated to version 2. It is in the Installer in the System folder which can only be seen if you update your community sources. I'll be revising my 1.1.3 jailbreak guide again and removing all other methods to cut down on the confusion factor.

January 31,2008

Ignore every other jailbreak method but this. This is the safest and easiest method for 1.1.3 yet! I added the tutorial for the official 1.1.3 jailbreak for OS X users and Windows users. This method is completely automated, and uses the Installer to execute everything.
Read the OS X and Windows Guide Here! . I wrote a detailed explanation of what jailbreaking method are avaliable, by whom they were developed, and the requirements. Read here.

January 30,2008

A new method has been released based on the Official Dev Team Jailbreak. This is # 3 for firmware 1.1.3 This is PROVEN to work on iPhones and iPod Touch. So all the iTouch users who had trouble before, this is your lucky day. I have posted a guide. If interested click here.

January 29,2008

A second version of the jailbreak has been posted. I'm trying it out as we speak to see if anything has changed. If it does I will edit the guides that are already posted. I recommend you wait and read other's feedbacks. I will keep you posted. Keep me posted on your successes and problems during this jailbreak process. Keep coming back for More News and Updates as they develop!

Here's the Tutorial for Windows. Here's the Tutorial for Macs.

Here's the offical jailbreak for 1.1.3. It does not update the baseband
http://rs348.rapidshare.com/files/86938563/Jailbreak-1.1.3.tar.gz I hear there is an issue with contacts and syncing, possibly EDGE. I believe the iPhone Dev Team is working on a fix.

January 27,2008

Official iPhone Dev Team jailbreak for 1.1.3 coming soon! If you used the unofficial version you MUST restore back to 1.1.1 and get back to jailbroken 1.1.2 to update. The unofficial version breaks an important system manager and you will have serious issues if you put the official jailbreak onto your current jailbreak.

Nulliver released another update version of Installer 3.0B10 . It now works properly under the user "mobile" provided it is setuid root and owned by root:
cd/Application
chmod+s Installer.app/Installer
chown -r root:wheel Installer.app

Do not upgrade to firmware version 1.1.3 using iTunes if you wish to use third party applications. You must use the special soft upgrade method instead. It is recommended that only developers upgrade their iPhone/iTouch at this time. The BSD Subsystem's "passwd" command is currently broken on 1.1.3, do not use it to change the password or Springboard will continuously crash. To fix, replace : /etc/passwd and /etc/master.passwd with default files from the 1.1.3 firmware disk image.

January 26,2008

You can go here to see the new guides for Mac and Windows Firmware Upgrade and Jailbreak.
This is NOT the official release from the iPhone Dev Team(s). This is Nate True's decision to release this program. Why is this not official? The download from Nate includes copyrighted material (and the decrypt key), which means an official release may be coming. I tried this method 4 times and it failed me twice. So you have a 50% chance of getting it right on your first try.

January 25,2008

Added a tutorial for decrypting the firmware (1.1.2 and below) for Windows users. Read Here. I have also added a guide for adding a Speed-Dial Icon to the main screen. This only for 1.1.3 iPhone Firmware. Click Here. I have also developed a hardware unlock guide for iPhones with 1.1.2 firmware and 4.6 bootloader.Click Here.

January 24, 2008

I'm hearing of a software update only to 1.1.3 which would NOT include the baseband update. This would give all of us out there those wiggly icons you've all been dying for, among other things. Stay tuned.

January 23, 2008

I have added what may be the ONLY and LAST tutorial I write for 1.1.3 firmware. It is for those who have mistakenly updated and want to go back to an iPhone they can actually use. This is for those with the 3.9 bootloader only!

January 22, 2008

Please update your Installer as soon as possible. Nullriver has released update version 3.0b9 today. This was done because it is causing a significant draw on bandwidth resources of the various repositories out there including one of the largest run by SMXY that hosts such popular packages as BSD Subsystem and OpenSSH. My site also goes through a tremendous amount of bandwidth considering the few applications I host. What Nullriver did was increase the refresh timeout from 30 minutes to 24 hours. So now, when you run Installer, it will not automatically refresh unless it has been more than 24 hours since it last refreshed.

Since the iPhone Dev Team will not release a jailbreak method for 1.1.3 firmware, many of us believe that 1.1.3 will be the firmware that never was as far as hacking is considered. We are all waiting for the next version of firmware to be released with the Software Development Kit (SDK). This is the version that will see a jailbreak made public. We want access to that SDK. It’s believed that our applications will no longer be broken once we can use the SDK ourselves. I wouldn’t expect to see any tutorials for 1.1.3 other than some brief notes I will post for those that were foolish enough to update and want to go back to a usable iPhone. Keep in mind this will only be helpful to those with the 3.9 bootloader. Those of you with the 4.6 bootloader are stuck until the next firmware release. An important thing to remember is NEVER UPDATE until you hear it is safe to do so from those in the know.

January 20, 2008

Yes the jailbreak for 1.1.3 seen on the iPod Touch is real. Yes it will work on the iPhone as well. Yes this was done by the iPhone Dev Teams and no, it won’t be released until after the Apple SDK (and most likely 1.1.4 firmware) is released. Why aren’t they releasing it now? Simple, they would hate to start all over again with a new angle of attack. There’s no point in them letting Apple know the exploit they used just so it can get patched up again in a couple weeks. That could mean a very quick jailbreak for 1.1.4. By the way, here’s that YouTube video showing the jailbreak for 1.1.3 on the iPod Touch, and showing the wiggling icons and the Installer launching. You can watch the YouTube Video on the main page of the site or at my blog. I’ve been thinking about posting my raw notes on the hardware unlock for 1.1.2 4.6 iPhones for the time being.

January 18, 2008

The hardware unlock for 1.1.2 out of the box (4.6 bootloader) iPhones is here. Read GeoHot’s blog update on how he did it. Much of the information GeoHot refers to comes from the original hardware unlock for 1.0.2 firmware. You can get this information and a step by step in the “Hardware Unlock” section on top of the page. I do have an iPhone I may subject to this horrific process (especially since there may never be a software unlock for the 1.1.2 4.6 iPhones), just so I can say I did it and show you how.

January 17, 2008

I have received several emails about a particular situation that affects everyone trying to jailbreak 1.1.2 and unable to figure this out. With 1.1.3 firmware now available, the obvious option to update to 1.1.2 no longer exists. So how do you update to 1.1.2? Simple. Download the 1.1.2 firmware restore file, then either press Shift or Option and click the Update button in iTunes. A file browser window will now open. Now point iTunes to the 1.1.2 firmware restore file and it will update the iPhone and not restore it. Should you get an error 6 message, just restore to 1.1.1, OktoPrep and try again. Everything else in my tutorials for this (which I am revising today) works as before. Still stuck? Mail your iPhone to me, I offer a paid repair service.

January 16, 2008

Here is the download link for the new firmware which is 1.1.3 by the way. Yes the baseband is updated it is version 04.03.13_G. If you are foolish enough to update you’ll soon find out that the *#307# trick doesn’t work anymore. Don’t forget the new baseband isn’t downgradable. If you screw up and update you can downgrade to 1.1.1 and use all but the phone functions.

james,
AnySIM won't work with a 4.6 bootloader. You need to use this guide to make it work with any GSM carrier:http://hacktheiphoneitouch.blogspot.com/2008/02/unlocking-jailbroken-112-iphone-46.html

best of luck

I've just changed passwd on a 1.1.3 iPhone with BSD Subsystem installed.

My Springboard keeps relaunching endlessly.

As stated:
To fix, replace : /etc/passwd and /etc/master.passwd with default files from the 1.1.3 firmware disk image.

Where do I obtain the files and how do I replace them? If via SSH, how to, because my Springboard keeps relaunching and I cannot get any program to run.

Appreciate your help. Thank you!

you have to put your phone in restore mode and jailbreak and unlock again, theres really no other way, it'll keep rebooting till the battery dies and thats it.
