iPhone reach 90,000 at end January


PARIS, Feb. 6, 2008 (Thomson Financial delivered by Newstex) -- Orange, the mobile telecommunications arm of France Telecom (NYSE:FTE) , has sold around 90,000 Apple iPhones in France as of the end of January, compared to 70,000 a month earlier, the head of Orange France, Louis-Pierre Wenes, said. Half of the iPhone purchasers are new clients for Orange France, Wenes added. The iPhone has been on sale in France since November. France Telecom had targeted sales of 100,000 iPhones by the end of 2007, and aims to sell between 400,000 and 500,000 this year. The iPhone, which is on sale in only four countries around the world, has had total sales of 4 mln since its launch last June in the US. The iPhone is also on sale in the UK and Germany.
