if you would like to use 3rd party apps and different themes on your itouch then YES, you need to jailbreak But if you want it to be a boring,ordinary device then no.

NOWHERE CAN I FIND ANY DIRECTIONS MENTIONING WHEN TO SWAP IN THE PAY AS YOU GO SIM
DO I BUILD THE CUSTOM IPSW, PUT IN THE PAY AS YOU GO SIM, THEN GO INTO ITUNES. ALSO WHAT DO I DO IF ITUNES DOESNT LIKE MY NOW CUSTOM COPY IPSW AND STARTS TO DOWNLOAD ITS OWN COPY
OR PUT ANOTHER WAY.... IF I HAVE AN ATT IPHONE ACCOUNT NOW, DO I BUY A SACRIFICIAL PHONE AND TAKE OUT THE SIM.....GO THE PWNAGE ROUTE WITH WHICH SIM INSTALLED, FACTORY ATT SIM, OR THE PAY AS YOU GO ONE.....?
