Software Unlock for 1.1.2 OTB and 1.1.3 iPhones Complete

GeoHotz, the guy who first unlocked the iPhone has proved his genious once again! After 24 hours of pure hacking he came up with a software unlock for 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 OTB iPhones. We have been waiting for htis one a LONG time. If some of you don't know here's a little recap: Apple released iPhones with 1.1.2 firmware pre-installed which blocked any kind of unlock/hack we ever had. No one since then could find an exploit, not the Dev Team or the Elite Team. In his blog post he stresses the fact that he could not believe that they could not find this with all the people working on this. The method used, unlike others in the past, is very simple to implement. Only a few steps are required to perform the unlock, although a fully expanded guide has not been released. It is very likely that, pending community testing, an application will be released which easily performs the unlock using his method. GeoHotz instructions:

  • Download these:gunlock and the secpack from http://iphonejtag.blogspot.com/ or the blog :)the 4.02.13 fls from http://george.zjlotto.com/index.php/baseband/

  • Downgrade your phone to 1.0.2. See all the great tutorials online to do this.Your baseband won't be downgraded, this is normal. This will probably work on other versions too, but 1.0.2 doesn't lose wifi on bb access.

  • Kill CommCenter and run "gunlock secpack ICE04.02.13_G.fls"

  • Reload CommCenter. For some reason my phone was in brick mode. Use the elite team bricktool to get out.
