How to Jailbreak Your 1.1.3 or 1.1.2 iPod touch with ZiPhone GUI (Windows)

MANY PEOPLE REPORTED PROBLEMS WITH THIS METHOD...THE ONLY FIX I FOUND FOR WINDOWS USERS IS TO DOWNLOAD .NET Framework 2.0 THIS WILL INCREASE THE CHANCES OF THIS HACK WORKING 95%

Step by step instructions on how to jailbreak your iPod touch using ZiPhone GUI for Windows! No downgrading then upgrading! You can do the jailbreak from any firmware. It will jailbreak as well as install Installer.app for you!

ZiPhone performs all these functions:
- Unlock iPhone (Will work on 4.6 BL or 3.9 BL)
- Jailbreak will work on any OS version.
- Activation for iPhone will work on any OS version, except for youtube on 1.0.X.
- iErase iPhone BL 3.9 Baseband

UPDATE*: It seems that the 2.0 Apple logo problem can be solved by running ZiPhone in verbose mode. I have updated the tutorial!

NOTE*: Before doing this tutorial I restored my iPod touch to 1.1.3 using iTunes.

Step One
Download ZiPhone from: here

Step Two
Double click ZiPhone.zip on your desktop to extract the folder ZiPhone..

Step Three
From the extracted ZiPhone folder double click ziphoneGUI.exe to launch the application.

Step Four
You must put your iPod touch into recovery mode. To do this please hold down both the Sleep/Wake for 3 seconds. A power slider will appear. Slide it to the right to power down the iPod. Then keeping ONLY the Home button pressed, connect the iPod to the dock. Keep the home button pressed until you see the iTunes logo and cable on the screen.

Step Five
You can now activate and jailbreak! Just simply check the Activate, Jailbreak, and Verbose checkboxes. Then click the Start button.

Step Six
The program will now load zibri.dat. Then it will search for the iPod touch. Once found it will tell you to wait for 45 seconds.

Step Eight
After this time your iPhone will reboot and it will be activated and jailbroken!!!!

hi do i lose all my mp3s and videos on the i touch when doing this?
Does putting the itouch in recovery mode erase everything on it?

Thanks

matrage,

Yes you will lose all your content but if you have it on itunes, after you jailbreak you could put it back on.

thanks for the reply, the only problem is 90% of my content is nnot in Itunes, I will have to try a recovery/backup solution, btw to you happen to know one that works for the itouch, I did use folder for my nano previously but it doesn't appear to work for the itouch.

Thanks for your help

I guess that's a choice you'll have to make yourself - keep your music or the world of third party apps. I personally don't know how to transfer music from an iPod to iTunes without it being in the iTunes library

i tried this, and now the itouch just displays the apple logo, nothing else. The pc doesn't recognize it when connected to the usb hub.
What should i do?

thats because you are probably in restore mode.....also i never recommend using this method.ONLY the official jailbreak but many people choose this because its easy but with easy also comes hard...try this jailbreak: oh wait what firmware are you using? what did u have before?

Latest i guess, 1.1.3

I have a brand new iTouch right out of the box and when i put it in recovery mode.....and i run the ziphone utility.....it just sits there forever and does nothing .... Am i doing something wrong ?

I'm using a pc (w xp in this case).
Only the apple logo is still displayed...until the battery went dead. When I recharge, still only the apple logo appears.
It seems to be locked somehow. Anything I can do to reset/format it?

I've tried this many times on a 1.1.3 iTouch without success. Each time the same result. After launching ziphone -j, from either the command line or the GUI, the iTouch goes into an enless loop of lines showing...

BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0

I have to restore it after each attempt from iTunes to get it working again, but jailbreak doesn't seem to work on the iTouch.

I've also tried with unlock and activatioon, but this doesn't seem to make sense for the iTouch, just the iPhone, and have also tried downgrading the bootloader, all with thw same results.

HELP please!

Thomas:

I have the exact same problem. I have an 8 GB touch and cannot for the life of me get the jailbreak to work. I am running 1.1.3 firmware and always get that error as well. I did notice however that one of the last steps on the device itself is
"Spanning AT waiting for reply"
I can;t help but think this must be some iphone specific thing. I have done the same as you GUI cmdline whatever it takes! I haven't yet done the whole downgrade then upgrade stuff at this point. After much reading on this topic it looks like the 1.1.3 offical jailbreak will be released after the apple SDK is released to the public. So maybe waiting for this is the best option. However I have also seen that 1.1.4 fw will be released at the sametime as the SDK which MAY include flash support!

I am holding off for now as this seems to be more trouble than it is worth right now for 1.1.3 OTB

good luck

hi I had the exact same problem what l did was plug the USB cable into another port Here is the part that saved me.
I kept the home button pressed the whole time the restore was happening. For some reason this allowed me to complete the restore. So try the restore keep the home button pressed the whole time
good luck p.a it is not possible to brick an touch so dong worry about that an iphone is a different matter though

thanks martrage...without you, i wouldn't have figured it out.

But it didn't work.

What did work to get it back into recovery mode when only displaying the apple logo was, connecting it to the usb-port, then switching it off by holding power and home button(only way to turn it off when in this mode), and then holding the home button while pushing the powerbutton, it turned on directly into recovery mode...now i just hope itunes will accept it and reinstall 1.1.3

It didn't work for me either. It ran through the steps it said it would until I tried to start my iPod, at which point it proceeded to show me the "connect ipod to itunes" symbols.

I have just upgraded my Touch to 1.1.4, and then used ZiPhone following this tutorial. Confirmed that it works on 1.1.4 as well!
