AT&T Unveils Unlimited Cell Calling Plan, Excludes iPhone
Let the unlimited price war begin, so bring it on baby! Helio recently dropped their all-inclusive unlimited plan on February 4 to $99 bucks a month; causing a domino effect in which Sprint also offers an Unlimited Access Pack for $119, and Verizon announced earlier today that they now also offer unlimited calls for $100. So guess what? AT&T just jumped on the bandwagon and announced the new plans, available February 22, can be ordered at one of AT&T’s 2,200 company-owned retail stores and kiosks, at www.att.com, or at one of the thousands of authorized AT&T retail locations. Existing customers can choose unlimited calling without extending their contracts while new customers have the option of a month-to-month, 12 or 24-month contract.
The $99.99 unlimited calling plan is a la cart unlike Sprint and Helio’s plan. Which means that you’re going to have to pay for a data plan and SMS plan separately. For starters, if you’re a customer with standard wireless phone*, you can select a $5 for 200 text, picture, video and instant messages or $35 for unlimited messaging and Media Net access.
For iPhone owners (for new customers) the $99.99 option will show up in iTunes shortly (per AT&T PR representative). If you can’t wait to switch to the $99.99 plan, call customer service line (800-331-0500) and they’ll take care of it for you. Be mindful that if you go with the $99.99 option for the iPhone, your cost is $120 ($99.99 voice + $20 for 200 text messages and internet) or $140 ($99.99 voice + $40 for unlimited text and internet).
