How to update to and jailbreak 1.1.3 firmware with the Installer

We've been waiting a long time for this one, and thanks to many hard working people we are able to update to 1.1.3 firmware and jailbreak it. This method is different from every other update in that we are only replacing the iPhone's operating system and not updating the baseband. There is no unlock for 1.1.3, so there is no point in having the new baseband. The downside to this? You won't be able to use the new Google maps feature. But if you are unlocked, you will retain your unlock. This is by far the easies ever. It works for both iPhone and iTouch. Good Luck and please show your appreciation by giving a small donation if you can. Enjoy and Happy Hacking!

  • You need to be jailbroken on 1.1.2 firmware.

  • If you aren't sure you are on 1.1.2 firmware, then press Settings, General, About.

  • You can find guides on how to jailbreak 1.1.2 here.

  • Press Settings, General, Auto-Lock, and set it to Never. You should now plug in your iPhone to a power source as this process could take up to an hour.

  • Launch the Installer. Press the Install icon and scroll down to the Sources folder and install Community Sources. It may take a while for the sources to refresh. You will now be prompted to update the Installer. You must have version 3.0b10. Do this if you didn't do this before, if you already have everything in this step proceed to the next step.

  • Go to the System folder and install the Official 1.1.3 Upgrader. Read the pop up message and click OK.

  • Go back to the System folder and install BSD Subsystem. Read the pop up and press OK.

  • Press the Home button to reset the SpringBoard and slide to unlock to get back to the SpringBoard. You should now see a new icon: Upgrade. Launch it. At the patch lockdownd question, press Yes if you DO NOT use AT&T, or O2, or any other authorized Apple cell phone service provider. Press No if you do use an Apple authorized cell phone service provider. For most of us hackers out there, we do not use iTunes to activate our iPhones so you should press Yes.

  • You will see a progress display for several processes. I did this three times and both times it took 45 minutes to complete.

  • There are over 3200 files to copy in this step.

  • The iPhone will now reboot and you will be taken to the slide to unlock screen. The edit home screen pop up will appear next.

  • Pressing and holding an icon makes them all wiggle. Press an icon and drag it anywhere on the screen or to another screen.

  • If you go to your About screen you'll see you are on 1.1.3 firmware, and your baseband is from 1.1.2.

  • I recommend launching the Installer and adding sleepers.net/iphonerepo as a Source. They have a folder called Tweaks 1.1.3 that contains many bug fix programs that might help you if you are having any issues. Do not install any programs that say they are for the Nate True 1.1.3 jailbreak.

Hi! I've just installed and jailbreak the 1.1.3 version for iTouch. It works really cool but I've tried to do the icon wiggle arrange icons thing and nothing happens and i can see the icons for new applications installed like mail, notes, stock, weather and maps but they don't work either. Did I did something wrong? Is this normal? Can you help me?

I followed everything but now I have no games or maps, just a 1.1.3 ipod touch with none of the new features on it

Nevermind, for those of you missing the goods. Go to sources and add this one ipodtouchmaster.com/files/repo.xml ... Then exit come back in and there will be a "iPhone 1.1.3 Applications" folder that you can get all the new apps for free from including the wiggly screen. Have fun :)
