AT&T Offers Contract-Free Plans But Not For iPhone

Gizmodo reports on an internal AT&T document which outlines the requirements for a customer to receive a contract-less phone plan. The idea is that if the customer doesn't want a contract, they are obligated to pay full price for the phone. However, Gizmodo quickly learned from another source that AT&T has offered this for years and the document was intended to inform employees who were unaware of the policy. It is unlikely that AT&T would extend this offer to iPhone customers due to AT&T and Apple's exclusive partnership.
