iPhone Rival(s) Coming To Your Area

According to Globe and Mail, Research In Motion is planning their big rebuttal to the iPhone for the near future. Rumor has it that the company is set to release two new phones, one of which sports a touchscreen interface, early next year. One of the devices to ship will be the Pearl 2.0, a revamp of the popular consumer-oriented Pearl smartphone. It is hoped that this device will help to strengthen their following in the consumer arena. It will also sport a numeric keypad that will rotate 90 degrees for a more QWERTY-like typing experience. The other device will compete directly with the iPhone, sporting a very similar screen interface. The device was described in a patent as the Touchscreen 1.0, and showed it with similar interface elements, with the addition of a fold-out QWERTY keyboard.Research Analyst Ray Sharma cites February as one possible early release date for the two smartphones, no details are currently known
